Join us on April 22 at 7:30 PM for a sensational evening of jazz as the big band sound comes to the Halloran Centre. JAM at the Halloran will feature top jazz groups from the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jack Cooper, is one of Memphis’ perennial favorites. With 17 orchestra members, they captivate audiences with everything from Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington to modern composers such as Jim McNeely and Bob Brookmeyer. They have recorded two CDs, "Voices" and "Out of the Bluffs" for Select-O-Hits, Memphis. Also on the bill are the UofM Jazz Singers. The energetic group explores vocal jazz from traditional arrangements of jazz standards to more contemporary fusion jazz.

The program for the evening will include great standards including the American songbook and premieres of new works.
