Students and Family

The Orpheum Theatre's Department of Education & Community Programs is committed to offering educational opportunities that use theatre to develop basic learning skills and cultivate the whole person.

Through the programs offered by Education and Community, Mid-South residents have access to the Orpheum as a historical treasure and performing arts facility. Programs at the Theatre impact the lives of over 40,000 students and families annually. We currently offer 17 separate educational and family programs.

The Orpheum regularly serves the tri-state area of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Memphis and the surrounding counties are all considered underserved by the National Endowment for the Arts and all include populations of Low to Moderate Income (LMI). Seventy-five percent of teachers attending Orpheum-sponsored training workshops teach in Title One Schools and over fifty-five percent of students attending Orpheum Matinee Series performances attend a Title One School.

When kids find art, they find themselves. The Orpheum Theatre provides high quality arts and education opportunities to members from all levels of our regional community.
